In Loving Memory of Avner Moiseevich Fatakhov

On June 24, 2019 (21 Sivan), at the age of 83, Avner Moiseevich Fatakhov passed away.

Avner Moiseevich Fatakhov was born to Moshe Fatakhov and Malko Khaitova on July 14, 1936, in the city of Leninabad, Republic of Tajikistan. In 1961, he graduated from the Samarkand Medical Institute, after which he was drafted into the Soviet Army. He began his service in Turkmenistan as a physician in a helicopter squadron, later serving as the head of a mortar battalion’s medical post, a bacteriologist in a medical battalion, senior physician of a motorized rifle regiment, and eventually as head of the division’s infirmary. From 1970 to 1986, he was head of the dermatology and venereology department at the Dushanbe Military Hospital.

After completing his military service, in February 1987 he was appointed chief physician of the city dermatology and venereology dispensary in Dushanbe, a position he held until his immigration to the United States in 1992.

In America, he devoted himself to studying many aspects of Judaism—something that had not been possible in his country of origin. He also gathered extensive information about the Fatakhov family and authored the book The Fatakhov Family Tree. His modesty, kindness, goodwill toward others, and selfless help will forever remain in the memory of all who knew him.

Blessed be the memory of Avner ben Moshe and Malko Fatahova.

Deeply mourned by: his children, grandchildren, brothers, sister, their families, relatives, and friends.

Светлая память моему любимому дяде Авнеру. Никогда не забуду его доброту и порядочность!
